How is it that we keep our head on straight and still live in this world of 24 hour news, social media and never ending seasons on Netflix? It ain’t easy, that is for sure! So how do we do it? For starters, we have to acknowledge the distractions we use to avoid reality. Things like Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, Ads with the perfect outfit or shoes….. How many minutes (or hours if we are being realistic) a day do we waste just scrolling through? This can distract us and even sometimes send us down a rabbit hole of comparing our lives to the highlight reel of someone else’s. What would your life look like if you put the phone down for certain times of day….perhaps in the morning when you are having coffee? How would it change your day if you started it with a 5 minute meditation, or a 1 minute gratitude session where you are thankful for everything you can think of for one minute? How would it feel to start your day being grateful for what you have rather than comparing yourself to “Jane” who worked out AGAIN today and posted it on Facebook? How would it change your day if you had a no phone at the dinner table experiment? A lot of times, the most important people in your life are sitting right across from you in the same room but you aren’t present with them because “Karen” is having a facebook rant about someone cutting her off in the car lane. Take a minute or two and make a list of times during the day where you will be present with yourself or your family. What will you do to make that change? In a workout rut?
We have all been there, especially if you are a high performer, which I know you are because you are reading this! You have been working out consistently for months, with great results in the beginning but you are just not seeing results anymore. We change and adapt in life………so do our bodies. Switching it up is crucial. What were your goals when you first started? Chances are your goals are different today than in the beginning so your workouts have to change also! You are getting faster, stronger and fitter. Your body is telling you it is time to up your game to the next level because you are just that awesome. So, visualize what your body will look like and what your workouts will have to look like to reach that next level. Change your home, change your life……..
Sounds nutty, right? What does your home have to do with your life? Believe it or not, it has A LOT to do with it! Where other than work, the gym, or school do we spend MOST of our time? It’s our home. SO, How do you feel when you walk into your home? How do you WANT to feel when you walk into your home? How do you want your kids to feel when THEY walk in? Do you want them to feel welcomed, relaxed, invigorated, or de-stressed? Take a few minutes and think about the spaces you spend the most time, how do they make you feel? If the answer isn’t the one you want, then visualize what those spaces would have to look like for you and your family to feel relaxed, de-stressed or whatever feeling you want to have? Often times there are just a few simple things you can do without spending much money at all to change the way your home FEELS. What YOU can do to be WILDLY successful at anything you do………….
For starters…..Decide what your priorities are. We can be anything we want to be in life, but we cannot be everything to everyone and be wildly successful at it all. My coach said this to me and it resonated. So, for me……….Family and Friends, Growth and Contribution, Career, Fitness, and Personal Style….These are areas that are important to me, in that order. What are the priorities in your life and how would you rank them? Are there areas that you are more successful in than others? Make your list and decide the priority you have put on each area, this alone may open your eyes to some areas that may have been neglected. In the next blog we will take the first steps towards being wildly successful in the area you chose to focus on! Until then…….Live with PASSION!
